DINAMO RIGA QUARTER-FINAL OPPONENT FOUND (1)Jared Grellet (Latvia) 08.03.2010 12:25 MOSCOW, Russia - Dinamo Riga are set to face-off against SKA St. Petersburg in a best of five quarter-final series starting Wednesday. After going up 3-0 against minor premiership champions Salavat Yulayev in their final regular season fixture on Sunday, Dinamo Riga were brought down to Earth when their hosts rallied back to take the game 6-4. The loss led to Dinamo Riga trainer Juliuss Suplers commenting after the game that to perform like that in the play-offs will prover detrimental to his team's chances. The loss, coupled by victory by CSKA, saw the Moscovites overtake Dinamo Riga to set up a more favorable quarter-final series with HK-MVD. Dinamo Riga in the mean time will travel to St. Petersburg to face Western Conference champions SKA. Last time the two teams met is an experience Dinamo Riga would rather forget, with their hosts handing them an 8-1 thrashing, a slight glitch in an otherwise strong start to 2010 for the Latvians. The second game will also take place in St. Petersburg on Thursday before Dinamo Riga return to Arena Riga for game 3. Tickets, beginning at 7 lats are selling fast to the 17.00 match-up. If needed game 4 will also take place at Arena Riga on Sunday, before the sides return to St. Petersburg on Tuesday for a fifth game, if so required.
