Anniversary international film festival in Vilnius “Kino pavasaris” – 15 days of good cinema (1)Anelija Juskeviciute (Lithuania)
20.02.2010 22:21  15th international film festival “Kino pavasaris”/”Cinema spring” will take place in Vilnius from March 18 till April 2nd. The locations of screenings are going to spread into three cinema centers in Vilnius: “Forum Cinemas Vingis”, “Pasaka” and “Skalvija”. Later the festival program is going to visit other towns of Lithuania too. “Kino pavasaris” film festival is biggest in the Baltics and has deep traditions by gathering audiences and especially good cinema admirers. The amount of the viewers reach up to 50 thousand and around 100 best films of nowadays are screened each year. The annual film event has also a symbolic meaning of the spring start, although probably the springy moods will be only felt inside cinema hall, or in leading events, but not outside the streets of Vilnius this year. Long and snowy winter in Baltics doesn’t overlap its position. Despite this, the anniversary “Kino pavasaris” is going to please with huge film program and going to represent all latest and most awarded films of the present. Viewers will have a chance to see films that were awarded in the international Cannes, Berlin, San Sebastian, Lokarno film festivals. Additionally it is going to be a competitive program “New Europe – new names”, where all latest films of young artists from Eastern, Central Europe and Balkan region will be screened. Festival is going to expect a special guest this year - Frederic Jugeau, who is the “father” of the festival and in 1995 initiated the start of it. Mr. Jugeau was the first attaché of the French culture in Vilnius. Additional events of the festival are also not forgotten: there are going to be educational events, meetings with film professionals and “International forum of the film festivals”. The event is meant for the representatives of the film festivals from Eastern and Central Europe, who are going to discuss about organizational problems and issues of the film festivals. Other leading events, topical film parties are going to take place in night clubs “Woo” and “Tamsta” in Vilnius. 15 great days of film festival is waiting for everybody!
